In Sitges

At forty-ish minutes away from Barcelona on a train that costs 4,20€ per person, Sitges is the summer destination which, after one and a half years living in Spain, is almost a sin the fact that I had not visited yet. Between work, rainy days and thesis to be delivered, there was always a reason for us to cancel our weekend at the town by the sea.

Of course, this isn’t the Caribbean, not even close, but with quiet beaches, local wine and food (of which we have no photos because on this trip we almost even ate our plates) and Barcelona just around the corner, this is one of tourists’ and locals favorite spot for a getaway. So, after a year and a half, thousands of excuses, rainy days and an unexpected cancellation from our airbnb host, at least, Sitges.

Because I ended up packing at the last minute (nothing to be surprised, I almost think it’s bad luck if I don’t start packing two hours before) I chose a few of my most versatile and lightweight pieces I had. To be honest, packing for the beach is a no-brainer: toes at the air, cotton garments, bare legs, at least three different sunglasses and a big beach bag of which you won’t have to worry about carrying a lot, ’cause you will be spending most of the day lying at the sand watching the day go by, as it should be on a beach getaway.

  4. I love Sitges and I have a very special reason for it — that’s where my now-husband proposed to me 3 years ago :) Back at that time I wouldn’t even dream that one day I could live in Barcelona, but… well, it has just happened! I moved here two months ago, and I’m going to spend here at least 3 years. I really enjoy your blog, the way you capture the aura of places and tastes of Barcelona is amazing. This year I began writing my own blog about museums, exhibitions, and museum education (I am an Art Curator and Art Educator). Feel more than welcome to visit it: !
    All the best,

    • Hello Olga, thank you so much for your comment and for sharing such a beautiful moment with us :). Sitges surely seems a lot more magical now. I hope you enjoy your time in Barcelona and that you love the city as much as I do, it’s such a beautiful yet quite, charming city :). All the best to you! xx

PS. My boyfriend totally loves your blog and I like it a lot as well, we want to visit so many places in Barcelona now ;)
